Get ready

Be Trip-ReadyTick these off before we fly — step by step

1
Register your player by Sun 1 Nov

Confirm your child’s place with Coach Stefan on the hotline 0938 987 500 or Zalo.

2
Pay to secure the place

A seat is only held once payment is received — Sacombank details are in the Price section.

3
Send a clear passport photo

We need it to book the flight and arrange the China visa. Passport must be valid 6+ months beyond the trip.

4
Provide visa documents

Vietnamese passport holders need a China tourist visa — we will tell you exactly what to send once your place is confirmed.

5
Pack for winter & your gear

Shanghai is cold in early January — see Before You Fly. Bring your team kit and basketball shoes.

6
Turn up ready

We meet at Tan Son Nhat on the morning of Thu 31 Dec — exact meeting time confirmed closer to the date.

Before you fly

Before You FlyEntry requirements, weather & what to pack

China tourist visa — required

Vietnamese passport holders need a China tourist visa to enter. This is arranged as part of the trip package — we will tell you which documents to send once your place is confirmed.

Passport valid 6+ months

Check each passport is valid at least six months beyond the trip, with blank pages for the visa. Send a clear passport photo to us early so we can book flights and the visa.

Weather — cold winter

Early January in Shanghai is cold, around 1–9°C and sometimes damp. Pack a warm coat, layers, a hat, gloves and warm socks. Bring a small umbrella in case of rain.

Pack these too

China uses Type-A, Type-C and Type-I plugs — bring a universal travel adapter. Also a refillable water bottle, any personal medication, and a little spending money for snacks and souvenirs.

Game gear in your carry-on

Pack your jersey, shorts, warm-ups, socks and basketball shoes in your carry-on or backpack so your kit is always with you in case checked luggage is delayed.

Staying connected in China

Some apps parents rely on (such as Google and WhatsApp) can be limited in mainland China. A roaming SIM or international eSIM usually works best — we’ll keep the trip parent group updated throughout.

Getting around

Getting AroundHow the team travels, and how families reach the games

Players travel by team bus

A dedicated team bus takes the players and coaches to and from the airport, hotel and every game, supervised throughout. Families who travel make their own way to the venue and meet the team there.

Getting to the games

The Shanghai Falcons Center is in Qingpu District, on the west side of the city. The nearest metro is Line 17 (Zhuguang Rd). Taxis and DiDi (China’s ride app) are easy around the city. Tap “Map” next to the venue above for directions.

Money & payments

Currency is Chinese yuan (RMB). Mobile payment (Alipay or WeChat Pay, both of which now accept foreign cards) is used almost everywhere; carry a little cash as a backup. Download your maps and translation app before you arrive.
